portrait class starts monday!!!

i've been busy trying to get things ready for another session of my "all about faces" mixed media portrait class that starts this monday. aiden's pretty sick right now, poor guy, so it's been a bit slow going....just trying to do what i can while making sure he's resting and stays as comfortable as possible.

i'll be sending out invites tomorrow evening some time to the private class blog, so you still have a chance to sign up before the class begins. everything is available for you on the first day of class, so you can go at your own pace. below is a slide show of some of my past students work.

Gosh I've got so much to do this week (this weekend was just a blur with tons to do), but I wanted to pop on and let y'all know that I've now opened sign ups for a new session of my backgrounds and portraits classes. I've had alot of requests for them, so I decided to run them one more time. Go on over to the classes page for details...the backgrounds class starts on August 31 and the portraits class will begin a while after that. They are both wonderful for all skill levels, so don't be afraid to jump on in! Oh and all class materials/videos will be posted the first day of class, so you can download everything and go at your own pace. No more waiting for next week's lesson. ;D

New classes in July...hopefully

i'm getting alot  of questions so i thought i'd do a quick post to let everyone know that i'm having to put the next session of online classes on hold for now...hoping to get them going again in july, but it all really depends on how our big kitchen update unfolds and how long it takes. this is a huge project (as anyone who's done any home updates  knows...especially kitchens) and we really had no idea how huge until we started talking to contractors and installers and such. seems we'll be without a functioning kitchen for a while....and even longer if we go ahead and redo our hardwood floors.

so....if you want to make sure you get in the next session, make sure you sign up for my online classes mailing list 'cause members get first shot at signing up for new sessions and classes.

okey dokey i'd better get outta this computer chair. my kiddo has been home sick all week (strep+ear infection) and this is the only day this week i've had to get anything done and it wasn't as productive as i'd hoped. oh well...there's always next week. :D have a fab weekend y'all!!!

Online class signup & mini update

Aiden and I have been sick alot this winter and it has kept me from being online much....that along with the new puppy (see pic of Kayla in last post) and just life in general. I'm trying to get Aiden totally potty trained...meaning sleeping through the night without any accidents and it's taking a toll on me. I don't have much energy these days.....most nights I'm up a couple of times a night....more if he has any accidents. I feel like I'm constantly washing sheets & pjs! LOL!

Anyways...I have lots of news, but only time to share one little tidbit 'cause I gotta get back to work on some class samples for a class I'm teaching in Australia next year (more on that later). I'm thinking I may just have to do a video blog in order to do a brain dump of sorts.....so much going on and I'm finding it harder to write things down. Now if I could just manage a shower often enough then I may be camera ready one of the few times I have any energy these days.

I hope y'all haven't forgotten about me during my absence. I really miss my online buddies, but with only so much energy to go around these days, I'm having to be careful where I spend it. My new online art journaling class

Hey y'all! I know I haven't been around much lately, but filming and setting up my new online class has taken a good bit of my time and then when you add in family and life in general....well that doesn't leave time for much else huh? ;) Anyways, my latest online class is creating a mixed media inspiration art journal and it's called "Enjoying The Journey". Faces class update & new goodies for packages

Don't have much time before I gotta go pick up Aiden from school, but I wanted to give y'all a heads up on my upcoming "All About Faces" mixed media portraits class that starts next week. As of right now, there are only 2 spots left. So if you were thinking of signing up, now's the time. I'm not sure exactly when I'll be offering this class again in 2009....it depends on alot of things that are kinda up in the air at the moment.

Oh and I wanted to share the new goodies I got today to put into my packages.... bookmarks featuring a portion of my "Follow" painting.  I'm a book lover and I am always on the lookout for great bookmarks....only made sense to make some of my own! Don't know why I didn't think of it sooner. ;) So starting this week, all purchases will get one of these lovelies inside. :D

Last chance to sign up for online backgrounds class is today

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up and let you know that I have a few more spots available in the "Organic Dimensions" backgrounds/collage class that starts this coming Monday, Sept. 15th. I will be closing registration at 9:00 pm Pacific Time tonight (Sept. 12th), so today is your last chance to sign up for the class.

It's really a fun class that's all about loosening up and letting go. A great class for all levels....even a total beginner who's never even picked up a paint brush. I walk you through everything step by step and my videos are like you're looking over my shoulder while I work in my studio. Everyone gets that prime spot right next to the instructor! :D

There are some spots available in the "All About Faces" portraits class too that starts in a few weeks (Oct. 6th). We had some amazing work come out of the previous sessions.....those who thought they couldn't draw or paint faces realized that they totally could!!! It was awesome!!

Well, I've got to go pick up Aiden from school in a bit....he's been sick for the past couple of days and stayed home from school yesterday and went in late today (I've been posting updates about it on my Twitter). Needless to say, no art going on here at the moment. He's a trooper though and I just pray he gets over this quickly 'cause he really misses his new school friends when he's stuck here at home with ol' Momma. LOL ;)

Play time in the studio

Ahhh it feels sooooo good to have paint on my hands again!!!! :D A sweet artist friend of mine has been busy making ACEOs and it inspired me to pull out the linen canvas ACEO cards I just bought and play with some new techniques for a brand new class.....yep, ya heard me right. ;) I'm brainstorming for some new classes. One of which I'm close to announcing on my mailing list and the other I'm just in the planning stages of right now.

The first one will be a inspiration art journal class focused on helping you find your "style". The one I'm playing with in the studio right now.....well it has to do with creating backgrounds and it's a  technique class, so it'll just be all art play and fun with no pressure to have a polished finished piece!!! Just me filling your head with tons of techniques and lettin' the paint fly! LOL! :D

Aiden had a great day on his first day of kindergarten yesterday! Thanks so much y'all for all your sweet comments and well wishes! He was so excited to go back today....although I did have a bit of a problem getting him going this morning, so I guess the excitement has died down a bit. ;) But he really seems to love it, so I hope he'll flourish there.

Below is a pic of him after leaving his classroom. He was full of smiles! Then I had brought him a special snack to have in the car on the way home. I think he shared a bit of it with his best friend Simon (the bear in the background)....he's such a good sharer. :)

And much to my surprise, I had two deer cross the road in front of me as I pulled out of our subdivision to go pick up Aiden yesterday. Thankfully there was no one behind me and I had my camera with me. It's a  blurry shot, but it's the first one I've managed to get of the beautiful deer we share the area with.

I'd better get back to work in the studio....gosh it's lunchtime already!!!! Man, time sure does fly! Oh and speaking of my classes, my "Organic Dimensions" backgrounds/collage class starts in just over a week (Sept. 15th), so you still have just over a week to sign up for the last time I'll be offering this class in 2008.

And being the end of summer means Aiden's birthday, family visiting, and getting ready for Aiden starting kindergarten (Yikes!). I'll be back to posting regularly once he's all settled in his new school I'm sure.

Online class update (and yep, it's still busy, busy 'round here)

It's been a busy week with no time for painting outside of finishing up the painting for my current "All About Faces" online class. We're entering our last week and I'm just amazed at all the fantastic work my students are doing! I'm like a proud Momma! :D And speaking of the faces class, I have room for one more person in my next session of this class that starts on June 30th. So if you wanna grab it, go to the online classes page and send your payment quick! Update: "All About Faces" class is now full

Online Class status update

As of a little earlier tonight, the "Organic Dimension" (backgrounds) class starting May 19th is full. There is still a little room left in the "All About Faces" (portraits) class that starts June 30th. If you go to the online classes page and scroll to the bottom, you can sign up there by sending your payment.

Classes getting close to being full

Just wanted to pop in and let y'all know that the next session of my online classes are getting close to being full. So if you were planning on signing up, you might want to go ahead and do so. Otherwise, you'll have to wait until September when I offer the classes again. We had so much fun in the backgrounds class and the faces class is coming along fabulously as well! Here's where you can get a peek at what some of the students have been up to in the classes. And to those of you who've signed up recently, I'm sending out payment confirmations about once a week. Otherwise I'd be spending alot of time just sending out confirmations. So it's just easier for me to do those all at once at the end of each week...hang tight and you'll hear from me soon. Also, I don't send out the blog access info or the supply list until two weeks prior to the class starting. I have alot on my plate at the moment and I really need to stick to this schedule to make sure I can give my current students my full attention. :)

Update on online classes

Hey y'all! Just popping in to give you a quickie update on the status of the new session of classes I announced recently....the backgrounds class (starts May 19th) is about 2/3's full and the faces class (starts June 30th) is about 1/2 full. So if you were thinking of signing up you might want to do it soon because I won't be teaching these classes again until September.

Things are still super busy around here....thankfully I've found a drop-in daycare place for Aiden. Today is his first day, so we'll see how it works out. If he likes it, then I actually might be able to get caught up on things around here. That would be so awesome! Seems I'm always running behind these days and have so much to do....now if I could just find someone to come clean my house a couple of times a week then I'd be golden. ;)

My online classes...new dates added :)

Just wanted to let everyone know that due to the huge response to my mixed media online classes, I decided to do another round. :) So if you missed out the first time, be sure to cruise on over the new newly updated online classes page and sign up. :)
