Well I decided to go ahead and put her on the canvas. Tried a little bit of a different way than what I usually do and I think it worked quite well. Yea! You'll probably notice that she's a mirror image now and that comes from the way I transferred her. I drew her on tracing paper with a regular pencil, then I flipped over the drawing and used a bone folder and burnished the drawing onto the canvas. It worked fabulously!!!
Then I proceeded to go over my transfer with pencil and then did all the shading....something else different from the way I usually go about the process. Trying to stretch myself a little more and shake things up a bit....gotta keep things fresh, right? :D
And here's where she is tonight. Think I've about got all the shading done on her. Gonna spray her with a workable fixative to keep the pencil from smearing when I start adding paint tomorrow. I'll try to post pics of her tomorrow once I get a little further on her.
Thank y'all so much for all the sweet comments, encouraging words, and lovely emails. They mean so much to me!!! Y'all are all a bunch of sweeties!!! I'll try my best to respond to all of them some time in the next week or so. Right now, I'm trying to focus on getting some painting done so most of my left over energy (which has not been plentiful lately) needs to be spent in my studio.
~love & hugs
This is inspiring Paulette -- that you look for ways to change, to shake it up, to keep it fresh for yourself. And this one is a beauty -- can't wait to see her with paint!

Oh dear Paulette, yet again a beautiful woman. Her face is so pure and I love how you are going big this time ... It's such a treat when you are back in the studio and we get to see your creations.
I will always be a supporter and collector of your work ... fabulous.

Paulette,
When you transferred her, you only burnished a pencil drawing on tracing paper? You didn't use a gel medium at all? She's beautiful!
Can't wait to try this with my own drawing. Do you think it would work over one of the backgrounds from your organic backgrounds class?

OH WOW it's a bigger canvas too! I love it! She looks perfect. And there is something different about this girl, not sure what. Love her though!

She is so beautiful! All you need to do is frame her, who needs paint?

LOL! I had already decided that I was going to try a face on just Gessoed canvas instead of mixing the medium under it.
I'm going to try a sample miskit (masking medium) under the mixed medium to see if I can remove all the medium and mixed on the skin areas.
I did the rubbing the graphite image on paper before and tried it on my canvas but it was way to light.
Is this the largest work you've done?
That big old Easel is really inspiring to you.
No need to reply - you go girl!
