giving live broadcasting from the studio another go....just testing things out for a short little bit today to see how it goes. if all goes well, then i'll try to broadcast from my brush caddy webcam (my iphone propped up in my tabletop brush caddy lol!) a couple times each week.
i'm just gonna be painting (and you'll probably hear me singing along to music too....i do that) and not answering questions, but you'll get a peek at my process. hope you'll join me! xoxo
that was cool! many of you peeked in on me and left me little notes around the web to let me know you enjoyed it. yea! i'm gonna try to do it again tomorrow morning for a while....starting around 9:30am pst. hope you can stop by!
if you missed out today, you can view a recorded clip of my afternoon broadcast at my Ustream channel Paulette Paints LIVE. :D
more works in progress....started these friday night while waiting on my hubby to get home. drew the shapes in on the smaller one (which is on cardbard...a recycled priority mail box) on sunday afternoon after church. my art still seems to be evolving and i find myself wondering where God's gonna take it next. excited and a bit scared all at once....know what i mean?
I've been frantically busy workin' on my painting that will serve as my class marquee (just a fancy way of sayin' sign ;) ) for my classes at Inspired. next week. It's my largest painting to date...18"x24". She's not done yet...but almost. I gotta take a break now thought because I've started shaking from hunger. LOL! Hope y'all are havin' a great Thursday. xoxo
Anyone else besides me have this problem? I start another painting
before I finish the last one! It's a sickness I tell ya! LOL! Guess
that's why I have too many almost finished paintings sitting around.
Hope everyone is having a good day. It's getting close to time to go
pick up Aiden, so this is about as far as I'll get today I imagine. I
guess I was just itching to play around with darker than my usual skin
tones again. ;) :D Thanks for all your feedback on the one I posted a
few days ago. I appreciate y'all so much!
This is for my Inspired class coming up in May. It'll be good to have a sample to take with me of a darker skin tone. Plus, I need to let my students know what they'll need for this type of skin tone. It's still in progress, but it's almost done...well, the portrait part anyway. :) feels good to play with paint again...it's been way too long!
Colors are a bit off because I snapped these in a hurry before I had to go pick up Aiden at school. Next step will be to finish her blouse and add some other elements that tie in with the meaning behind the painting. If all goes well, I'll be adding those tomorrow. Wish I could just stay up all night and finish her, but I'd be paying for that tomorrow. ;) :D
Well I decided to go ahead and put her on the canvas. Tried a little bit of a different way than what I usually do and I think it worked quite well. Yea! You'll probably notice that she's a mirror image now and that comes from the way I transferred her. I drew her on tracing paper with a regular pencil, then I flipped over the drawing and used a bone folder and burnished the drawing onto the canvas. It worked fabulously!!!
Then I proceeded to go over my transfer with pencil and then did all the shading....something else different from the way I usually go about the process. Trying to stretch myself a little more and shake things up a bit....gotta keep things fresh, right? :D
And here's where she is tonight. Think I've about got all the shading done on her. Gonna spray her with a workable fixative to keep the pencil from smearing when I start adding paint tomorrow. I'll try to post pics of her tomorrow once I get a little further on her.
Thank y'all so much for all the sweet comments, encouraging words, and lovely emails. They mean so much to me!!! Y'all are all a bunch of sweeties!!! I'll try my best to respond to all of them some time in the next week or so. Right now, I'm trying to focus on getting some painting done so most of my left over energy (which has not been plentiful lately) needs to be spent in my studio.
A better peek at a new drawing I'll be painting soon, I hope. This
isn't the whole drawing, but it gives you an idea of the direction
this painting will take. Planning on doing this on a 16"x16" gallery
style canvas, so the spacing will change a bit from the original
sketch. Funny thing is that when I sat down to draw yesterday, I
hadn't planned on doing this large of a drawing and it felt like the
drawing drew itself...guess God had another thing in mind. :D
