We've been making lots of trips to the library this summer. Aiden's a book nut like his momma. ;) He's reading chapter books (and he's not even six yet...wow!) and his most favorite series is Captain Underpants. Now, I'm not the one who introduced him to this series...that was all one of his teachers from kindergarten. Lol! They discourage them from using "potty" words in the classroom, but they have books like these around. *shakes head* That one, I just don't get.
Now don't get me wrong, the books are pretty funny...but when you've got a kid who goes around just saying "Captain Underpants" loudly every where he goes....Target, the dentist office, restaurants...well, you get the picture. And he has to tell every one he meets, both kids and adults, about his favorite character. Thankfully, about 70% have heard of the books...but that other 30% look at us like we've lost our minds. Lol!
Now a quick kitchen update...nope, we're not done yet and don't know how much longer it's gonna be. There's some things going on that we have no control over and we're just having to wait. Let's just say, we're beyond frustrated and leave it at that.
Also, I'm trying to get caught up on emails, but the backlog is quite big. So, if you've emailed me in the past few months and haven't heard from me yet, please email me again. Your message most likely got lost somewhere in my inbox.
I'm also trying to clean up and reorganize my studio so I can get back to work, but I've hit a snag on that as well. Good old Ikea and their lack of quality control strikes again. Oh well, hopefully l'll be able to get it all sorted out soon...and before I completely lose my mind. :D

That's hilarious! I have a five year old chapter book fiend here too! The Geronimo Stilton series is a fave as are the Nancy Drew Notebooks ones. I think my daughter would live at the library if she could!

LOL! My son loved those too. You can try "Otto Undercover" books by Rhea Perlman (Katherine Tegen Books) (Perlman was the ornery waitress from Cheers, remember?). There are three in this series and my son really loved them. They don't have potty humor or make fun of teachers, but they are funny/silly and filled with the action of a race car driver boy and his trick car. Now my son likes the Wimpy Kid series so we are back to books that make fun of teachers. Funny as I am a teacher!

Love to hear about kids reading! Restores my faith in the fact it isn't quite yet a dying art...
