Featured on Art Talk Radio

Today I was featured on a wonderful new talk radio show! It's Niki Jackson's ArtTalkRadio and it's "a podcast for mixed media artists and crafters who love to learn new techniques, listen to their favourite artists being interviewed and lot's more". Today was the first time it was on the air and it will be a weekly show every Monday at 9:00 am Pacific Standard Time. I hung out in the chat room during the show (Aiden was home from school today because of it being President's Day, so I couldn't call in), but she's asked me to do pre-recorded interview for a later show! Yea!

So give her show a listen and don't forget to tune in for a new show each week. If you happen to miss the live show, they are all recorded so you can listen any time you like! Cool!!!!

Well, I'd better get a move on.....my students for my online class starting today are chompin' at the bit to get started. ;) I gotta get the first lesson up for them and many of them are in other countries and it's already Tuesday for them!! Gotta love the internet!!! xoxo

Candy anyone???

Just wanted to wish you all a happy Valentine's day! Hope you're having a great one!!!

Link: YouTube - Valentine's candy anyone???.

Update on backgrounds online class...as of this morning it was completely full! Yea! There is still some room left in the faces class, but I wouldn't wait long. At the rate people are signing up, it will probably be full in the next few days as well. :D

I am soooooo very touched at the enormous response to my classes!!! Thank you all so very, very much!!!! Y'all are awesome!!! xo

Backgrounds online class almost full...

Just a quick heads up for y'all to let you know that the backgrounds online class that starts this coming Monday, February 18th, is almost full. Just a few spots left...so if you were planning on signing up this will be your last chance. If you still see the "pay now" button on the class page, then there is still room left. Once the class is full, I will be removing the payment buttons.

Some of the students are already chatting it up in the class's Flickr group. Yea! :) Everyone's excited to get started and they're busy getting all their supplies. It's gonna be a blast! I can already tell this is a great bunch of folks. We're gonna loads of fun playing with paint and chatting!!! Hope you'll join us! :D

High quality version of latest video & online classes update

                Click To Play

Good morning y'all! Here's a bigger and higher quality version of my last video. You'll need the Quicktime player to view it. When you click on it, a new player will open in a pop up window....go ahead and click play and then pause it. Let it load for a little bit before you hit play again, otherwise the video will stop and start. This version is at a higher resolution that the YouTube version, therefore the file size is much larger and will take more time to load. I think it'll be worth the wait though. ;) This is more along the lines of the quality of the videos you'll be getting in my online classes....and actually they'll be even better because they are not sped up and I have the camera right beside me while I'm demonstrating and explaining what I'm doing. It'll be like you're standing in my studio and looking right over my shoulder! Pretty great, huh? :D

Speaking of my online classes, I'm getting ready to post the first class supply list to the private class blog in a  little while so if you're signed up for the backgrounds class that starts on February 18th be on the lookout for an email from me later today. I've been getting emails asking if there's any room left in the classes....there's still some room left in both the backgrounds class and the faces class, but at the rate people are signing up I may have to close class sign ups soon....especially for the backgrounds class. Once I close class sign ups, I will take the payment buttons down off of the online classes page. So if you still see the payment buttons, then sign ups are still open. :)

Well I'd better get a movin'....so much to do today and Aiden's home sick from school. Poor guy been coughing his head off all morning....and as all you moms know, it's even harder, if not impossible, to get things done when you've got a sick little one to look after.

My online classes...all the details :)

I just finished a new page on the blog giving all the details about my upcoming online classes! Yea! :D The first class starts February 18th. I am accepting payment for class fees via PayPal, Visa & Mastercard by phone, and USPS money order (the last two options are reserved for U.S. residents only). Even though these are online classes, I am limiting the class sizes because I can only handle so many students per class. The classes are filling up quickly, so be sure to send your payment as soon as possible to reserve your spot.

We're gonna have sooooo much fun! Can y'all tell I'm all excited!!!!!!!! There will be high quality video demos (not hosted on YouTube because of their file size restriction) for each weekly assignment....in real time just like you were all standing around my table watching me demo in a regular in person class. They will be posted on Mondays and you can watch the demo video demos at any time during the week. We'll have a live chat once each week and there will be a Flickr group for students to post pictures of their class artwork. The Flickr group also has a private discussion board so the students will be able to talk amongst themselves without time restrictions which will be extremely helpful for those wanting to connect with other students who are taking the class. Participation in the Flickr group and live chats are encouraged for the full class experience, but are not required.

I'm trying my very best to make this as close to an "in person" class as I can. Having taught glass beadmaking for many years, I know full well how important it is to actually see how a teacher does something rather than only reading about it in a written document. Gosh this may be even better than an in person class....it's not like you can pause the teacher and rewind her if you miss something, huh? LOL!

Well I've stayed up waaaaaaay too late the past few nights trying my best to get all this info ready and get caught up on emails, shipping, and the like. Oh and speaking of being behind....I was running a couple days behind on shipping prints/paintings out this week, but as of this afternoon all orders have been shipped for the week! So if you made a purchase from my Etsy shop in the past week, your order is on it's way!

G'nite y'all! xoxo

Mixed Media Portrait - Episode Three (new video series)

So finally.....here's the last installment of my "Mixed Media Portrait" series. First I'll show you the finished painting since the pics at the end of the video don't give you much time to really look at all the details. Be sure to check down below the video in this post for close ups. Thank you all sooooo much for all your support and comments! I read each and every comment and email and haven't had time to respond to each one individually...but please do keep leaving comments and sending emails. I truly appreciate each and every one! Each time I get a new comment or email it makes my day a little brighter and all the work on I do on these videos worthwhile!! Y'all are just the best!!! :D

Oh and both this original painting and prints will be available in my Etsy shop in the next few days, so be on the lookout. I'll be sending info on the exact date and time of the next shop update to my mailing list subscribers, along with a chance to reserve and buy items before they go live in the shop. There will be at least two new original paintings (including this one) and several new prints in the next shop update. :)

New video...running behind

I'm soooo sorry ya'll, but I've gotten behind today and don't have the video ready yet. It's been one of those days where I tried to do more than humanly possible. LOL! One of those things was working on the write ups for the online classes to send out to my mailing list...so if you want info be sure to sign up 'cause I'll be sending out an email later on this evening with all the details for the two classes I will be offering.

Hoping to have the video up by midnight PST if all goes well...or earlier if things go exceptionally well. Until then...

Art journal....page in progress

Artjournal2

Artjournal1

New page in my art journal done with Caran d'Arch Neocolor IIs and pencil...just didn't want to pull out all my acrylics and stuff, so I decided to see what I could do with just the artist painting crayons. Still in progress, but almost done...just need to add some words/quote, I think. This page is about keeping your eyes on your dreams....to never stop dreaming and continuing to move forward towards your dreams. This is a theme that keeps reoccurring in my work....guess it's something that I need to keep reminding myself of when the pressures of day to day life get to me. I need to remember to not let anything push those dreams down....I need to keep stiring them up, keep growing and learning, and to quote a line from one my son's favorite movies right now "keep moving forward" (from "Meet The Robinsons").

I've been in the mood to do some really fun girly art (been loving what Marla, Jenn, and Suzi have been up to lately) and my art journal is the perfect place to play with new ideas. I'm really just a kid at heart....still love to watch cartoons and color in coloring books...good thing since I have a little boy who loves these things right now as well. :)

I'm thinking that this might be something that would be perfect for a little girls room (or someone who loves fun and sweet girly art like me)...what do y'all think? Is this something you'd like to see me add to my art offerings? Each would have stories behind them, like my other paintings...a story about what inspired the painting. I'd love to hear what you think. You can either leave a comment here or email me. :)

P.S. Tomorrow (Tuesday) is video day, so don't forget to check back in sometime tomorrow afternoon for episode three of my new series. Oh and I found a wonderful mixed media challenge website that this journal page was perfect for today....check out Mixed Media Monday. :D xo
